Thank you for everything, Cecile Richards.
Cecile Richards passed away on January 20, 2025. Cecile dedicated her life to activism with unwavering bravery. She was a champion of equal rights and reproductive freedom. Her book, Make Trouble, is a call to find the courage to speak out, to be fierce and fearless.
Cecile was the president of Planned Parenthood from 2006-2018. She built Planned Parenthood into a political force, with the power to demand change on the national stage.
Even after she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, Cecile kept championing for abortion rights by co-founding Abortion in America, an organization dedicated to uplifting the voices of those denied health care because of state abortion bans.
Cecile fought until the very end of her life for all of us. Looking at the cover of her memoir brings tears of gratitude to my eyes. As Cecile now rests in peace, it is paramount for feminists to remain activated, strong and vocal.
Cecile, I will make trouble.
